How to Monetize a Telegram Channel: 5 Ways That Work

Ads, sponsored posts, paid content, affiliate links and paid communities: how each way of earning from a Telegram channel works and what it takes.

A Telegram channel is one of the best places to build an audience you actually reach: every post lands in your subscribers' chat list, with no algorithm deciding who sees it. Turning that reach into income comes down to five approaches, and most successful channels combine two or three.

1. Telegram's own ad revenue

Telegram shows ads in large public channels and shares part of the revenue with channel owners, paid out in cryptocurrency. It requires a public channel above a minimum subscriber count and only pays in some regions. Check Telegram's current terms, since the rules change. It is passive income, but for most channels it is small.

2. Sponsored posts

Brands pay you to post about them. Rates depend on your subscriber count, how many people actually view each post, and your niche. To sell sponsored posts:

  • publish your real view counts, not just subscribers;
  • keep a clear line between your posts and paid ones, and label sponsored content;
  • turn down sponsors your audience would not trust. One bad promotion costs more subscribers than it earns.

3. Selling paid content

This is where a channel earns the most per subscriber. Post free content to the channel and sell the best of it: a full video, a photo set, a detailed guide, a file, an invite to a private group.

The simplest way is a paid link. You post a short link; it opens a page with a preview and the price; the consumer pays and unlocks the content. Nothing has to be built inside Telegram, and consumers do not need to join anything.

Telegram users are often comfortable with crypto, so stablecoin payments fit well. With Xbitto, consumers pay in USDC on Solana or USDT on TRON straight to your wallet, and the content unlocks about a minute later. Paid links show a clean preview card when posted in Telegram.

Recommend products you actually use and earn a commission on each sale. It works best in niches where your audience buys things anyway: software, courses, equipment.

You can also turn this around: let other channel owners sell your paid links for a commission. With an affiliate program they promote your content to their audience, you pay them directly when sales come in, and the payouts are verified on chain.

5. Paid groups and subscriptions

A private group that members pay to join gives them direct access to you and to each other. It needs the most ongoing work, since a community has to be looked after, but it gives the steadiest income. Telegram supports paid subscriptions with its own currency, Telegram Stars, and a paid link can sell the invite to a private group.

Which one to start with

Channel size Start with
Under 1,000 subscribers Paid content and affiliate links
1,000 to 10,000 Add sponsored posts
Over 10,000 Add ad revenue and a paid community

Paid content works at any size, because it depends on how much your audience values what you make, not on how many people there are.

Keep track

Use links that count clicks, so you know which posts bring consumers. A post that gets few clicks but many sales is worth more than one that gets the opposite.

A word on what to sell

Telegram's terms, and every payment platform's, ban illegal content and selling what you do not own. Channels that resell other people's work get reported and removed, and so do their links. Build on content that is yours.

To start selling from your channel, create a paid link.
